The urn with Jesus Christ @ Good Friday in Port..., posted with vodpod
Sunday in Aragona. Easter celebrations in Aragona, in South Sicily, started in 1702 with a notarial deed by don Pietro Marzocchio who decided that risen Jesus Christ should meet his mother Mary on the streets of this town. And there are also two brotherhoods, one for Jesus and one for the Virgin Mary - the church of Rosary and the church of Carmelo.
Only in 1732 two big saints or Saint Paoloni: were introduced Saint Peter and Saint Paul. They were wooden statues of Spanish descent, high more than three metres or meters - maybe nine feets - and with clothes and ribbons. They were placed over the shoulders of the men of only familiies, Alongi and Attardo – Scifo – Lorenzano, by a sling.
